The JV Bearcats Place 8th Overall in the Midwest Duals Day 1 Tournament.

The Bearcats battled through some tough teams in the 16 team field Saturday. The Bearcats started the day off against Columbus Scotus which the Bearcats defeated Scotus 52-21. In the second round, Kearney defeated Thayer Central 66-18. Round three resulted in the Bearcats losing to Alliance 42-21.

In the Consolation bracket, Kearney battled Sidney with a final dual score of 27-48 with the win going to Sidney. “This was a tough team. They had some tough guys at a few weight classes that we just couldn’t compete with. They have had a successful year so far and it showed. It’s good for our JV guys to see that level of competition at class B. It’s a challenge for us.” -Coach Clark.
In the 7th place matchup, Kearney went up against Adams Central. In a dual that came down to the last match with Kearney leading the dual 38-33, Adams Central Kayden Saurer, pinned Kearney’s Coleden Grassmeyer to win the dual 39-38.

“Overall, I’m pretty happy the way we competed. We were just outmatched at a few weight classes. But that’s the thrill and excitement of duals. We competed well and did a lot of good things today. I’m proud of this group of young men. Wrestling in competitions like this is what makes our program as tough as it is.”-Coach Clark
