The JV Bearcats Gold and Blue teams finish in 3rd and 11th

The JV and reserve Bearcats competed in Axtell this past Tuesday at their annual Invite. The Gold team placed third overall behind the champions from Milford and runner-ups from Minden.The Bearcats competed well in this Varsity tournament with some great showings and individual performances. At 106, Flavia Nagatani placed 3rd in for the Bearcats. Flavia showed some true grit battling throughout the day and earning the reserve wrestler of the week honors. Flavia went 3-1 for the day. “Flavia is an awesome addition to our team. Not only is she a tough competitor but an even better teammate. I am excited to see what she is going to do throughout her career at Kearney High.”-Coach Clark.

At 113, Jagger Sell placed 2nd going 2-1 on the day. Jagger wrestled well picking up two pins along the way before running into Milford’s Eli Vondra in a 7-3 decision in Vondra’s favor. Other runners up wrestlers taking home the silver were Dylan Welsh (152) going 3-1 and Bronson Amend (170) going 3-1 as well. The Bearcats had a total of 12 wrestlers place in the tournament. Others placing were Jakob Ransdell (132), Nick Sutton(138) both placed 4th, Cameron Claussen (145) placed 3rd, Jackson Bespalec (160) placed 4th, Riley Johnson placed 4th AJ Nagatani (132) placed 5th, and Tanner Ostermeyer (195) placed 5th.
