Week 6 - HAC & LNS JV Invite

This week Kearney High hosted North Platte on Thursday and competed at the Heartland Athletic Conference hosted by Lincoln Southwest on Saturday. Our JV competed at the SEM Invite on Friday and Saturday at the Gator JV Invite which is composed of almost all of our conference opponent’s JV teams. A great week of competition. On Thursday our varsity fell to North Platte 39-27, while our JV won by a score of North Platte 83-24.


Our JV1s got 2nd at the SEM Invite on Friday while our JV2s finished in 7th! Saturday both teams had a strong showing, with many strong performances at both levels. Our varsity came in 3rd place, while our JV won the Gator JV Invite.

Week 6 Wrestlers of the Week:


Varsity Wrestler of the Week - Jack Sponenburgh had a great weekend at the Heartland Athletic Conference tournament, finishing as our only conference champ on the day. Jack had a great win over Norfolk in the finals, and he also had a big district win over North Platte in the North Platte dual on Thursday.


JV Wrestlers of the Week - Kade Abbey had a great weekend, finishing 3rd at 132 on Friday and then following that up with a 1st place finish at the Gator JV Invite.


Reserve Wrestler of the Week - Keith Andersen is getting this recognition for his 1st place finish at the SEM tournament on Friday. Keith had a great day, competing in all positions at all times.
