This past week the Kearney High Wrestling team sent ten wrestlers to Omaha for the NSAA State Wrestling Championships. This year's State Tournament was a today affair featuring the best wrestlers in the State. The Bearcats started of day one on fire winning 7
of their 10 matches. In the quarter-final round, Kearney was able to punch two wrestlers in
to Thursday's semi-final round. Archer Heelan was able to pick up the 2nd-period fall over Columbus's Adrian Bice. At 145 pounds Beau Hosters was able to dethrone the returning state champion & #1 ranked wrestler Tyler Antoniak from Millard South. On the backside of the bracket Gage Ferguson, Carter Ables & Dario Rodriguez were able to wrestle back and earn themselves a place on the podium. In the finals both Archer and Beau fell to their respective opponents, finishing as State Runner-ups. Gage Ferguson & Dario Rodriguez finished in 4th place and Carter Ables finished in 5th place. As a team the Bearcats claimed another top-10 finish, finishing in 6th place. Complete Results can be found below:
