Our first week of competition is in the books! In the blink of an eye, the end of the season will be here. "My challenge to the wrestlers is to enjoy the ups and downs and to continue to work hard to get better." - Coach Bauer
We started off Thursday night dualing Hastings High School. Hastings is a perennial power in Class B, and they’re a very tough program. The dual score was not a great reflection of how close the dual really was. Our JV won seven of twelve bouts, and our varsity lost by a dual score of 52-21. The little things can make a big difference in the outcome of a match. Picking up wins on JV was Terran Hamilton, Cole Schroer, Cisco Rivas, Landon Clarke, Zack Watson, Trent Buescher and Bryce Andersen. Picking up wins on Varsity were Tate Kuchera, Riley Johnson, Archer Heelan and Sam Nactigal.
On Saturday we hosted our Kearney High Invite. This was a day of a lot of positives and some learning experiences. We finished fourth as a team with 14 of our wrestlers finishing in the top 6 of their respective weights. Congratulations to all of our wrestlers on their efforts this week. Special shout-out to Sam, Tavean, Kaedun, Andrew, Tate, Noah, Brandon, and Jackson who all earned their first varsity wins this week! Have the courage to compete, Bearcats!
