2020 Kearney Invite

Writer: Jacob OertleJacob Oertle

Kearney High wrestlers started their season off with some tough competition. The Bearcats finished in 4th place at their home invite behind Grand Island, North Platte, and Papillion LaVista. These are some of the top teams in the state of Nebraska this year.

“We had a few guys reach the finals which was great to see”, said Coach Swarm, “this is a varsity team that is pretty new to this level of competition, we expect to see this team improving each time we have the opportunity to wrestle”.

Senior Ethan Lawerence (126 pounds), Tate Kuchera (170 pounds), and Lane Kovarik (195 pounds) all finished in third place. Beau Hoster (145 pounds) and Riley Johnson (182 pounds) found their way to the podium and finished in 4th place.

The Bearcats are back in action this coming Saturday at the Holdrege Invitational. This starts at 915am at Holdrege High School.
