This week Kearney High traveled to North Platte on Thursday and competed at the Heartland Athletic Conference hosted by Columbus on Saturday. Our JV competed at the SEM Invite on Friday and Saturday at the Gator JV Invite which is composed of almost all of our conference opponent’s JV teams. A great week of competition. On Thursday our varsity fell to North Platte 37-36, while our JV won by a score of North Platte 67-3.
Our JV won the SEM Invite on Friday! Saturday both teams had a strong showing, with many strong performances at both levels. Our varsity came in 5th place, while our JV won the Gator JV Invite.
Week 6 Wrestlers of the Week:
Varsity Wrestler of the Week - Perry Swarm competed at one of the highest levels that we have seen him compete at this season. Perry collected a fall against North Platte on Thursday, and finished Saturday with a 4th place finish at conference. Though “only” going 2-2 on the day Saturday, he beat a highly ranked wrestler on a last second takedown from Grand Island, and both of his losses were very tight matches to highly ranked wrestlers. Perry had a great weekend!
JV Wrestlers of the Week - Seth Philippi had a great week, winning two tournaments in two days! Seth took first at both the SEM Invite and the Gator JV Invite, going a combined 8-0 on the week. Cole Schroer had a great tournament at the Gator JV Invite! He went 4-0, with many quality wins during the tournament!
