Kearney JV Finishes 3rd at KCHS DualsPosted:
The Bearcats number one JV team was in action Saturday at the Kearney Catholic Duals. Kearney was the only JV team competing with class C and D varsity teams. The team stepped up against this tough competition and ending up placing 3rd out of 12 teams! This was the highest that Kearney has ever placed at this meet.
The Bearcats started of the day wrestling wrestling Arlington. Pins were the theme of this dual with the Bearcats winning 78 to 6 with our only loss at 182 where we were open. This was a great way to start the day and set the tone for the rest of the day. The second round the Bearcats faced Holdrege winning a close dual 40 to 30. Picking up key pins towards the end of the dual were Jonnie McCann pinning Devin Logston in under a minute and LeDaniel Brown picking up the pin over Kyle Goodwin in the final match of the dual. Winning these two duals put Kearney High in the Gold bracket against Wilber-Clatonia, Sargent-Burwell, and Shelton/Kenesaw.
In the first round of the Gold bracket the Bearcats faced the number eighth ranked team in class C Wilber-Clatonia. The Bearcats put up a tough fight but ended up falling 47-27.
