Kearney finishes first with four Champions to claim the team championship


The JV Bearcats Gold and Blue teams place first and fifth and medal 13 wrestlers. The Gold team finished first with 258.5 team points in the 16 team field while the Blue team finished 5th with 105 team points.

The Gold team once again claims another team title at the Franklin invite for the second year in row. The Bearcats had four individual weight class champions. Ethan Lawrence (113 lbs), Tyson Cepel (138 lbs.). Cepel avenged his loss to Seth Simants of Superior from a week ago when Simants beat Cepel in the third period. Carter Abels (145 lbs.) defeated 5th ranked Chase Morris of Superior with a 9-7 decision. Connor Brown (220 lbs.) all finished first in their weight classes to claim the gold medal.
Reaching the finals as well were Jagger Sell (106 lbs.) who placed 2nd, Bronson Amend (160 lbs.) 2nd, Peter Kreutzer (285 lbs.) 2nd, Adrian Martinez (113 lbs.) 2nd, Coleden Grassmeyer (220 lbs.) 2nd,
The Bearcats had several wrestlers battle through the consolation bracket to place as well. Kaden Bonner (126 lbs.) placed 3rd, Colten Kowalek (132 lbs.) placed 3rd, Alex Hunt (182 lbs.) 3rd, Ben Crocker (106 lbs.) 3rd, Caden Johnson (285 lbs.) 3rd.
The Bearcats also placed Josh Pierson (152 lbs.) 4th, Tanner Ostermeyer (195 lbs.) 6th, Collin Taubenheim (126 lbs.) 5th, Brecken White (138 lbs.), 4th,
“We showed up today in full force and ready to compete. We had some guys really step and perform the best I have seen them all year. I can’t say it enough, I’m proud of this group of young men. They continue to work hard and improve each week. We have a lot of talent here.-Coach Clark.”
The JV Bearcats have another busy week ahead of them starting on Thursday. The Bearcats will be traveling to North Platte for a dual then the team will split on Friday. The JV’s will be at SEM in Sumner and Midwest Duals at UNK on Friday.
