JV Wins Lincoln Northeast Invite by 100 points

The JV Bearcats ran away with the team championship at the first annual Lincoln Northeast JV meet Saturday. The Bearcats produced 6 champions and put up an impressive first place team finish, scoring 252 points over second place Lincoln East scoring 152 points. The Bearcats showed complete domination in all aspects on their run to the championship. The tournament hosted 14 teams and 265 wrestlers competing.

The Bearcats took two JV teams with the Gold team scoring and the Blue team non scoring.
Ben Crocker had a great day placing 2nd at 106 going 2-1 for the day. Also at 106, Devon Sell placed 3rd going 5-1 while getting a little redemption in the 3rd place match against Caden Stutzman of Norris. Norris pinned Sell in his first match of the day and Sell was able to return the favor in his last match of the day pinning Stutzman to claim 3rd place. At 113, Atonio Gomez placed 3rd going 3-1 for the day. Jaegger Sell placed 2nd at 113 picking up his only loss on the year coming from the finals match against Jeromy Nielsen of Omaha Westside. Gavyn Bober claimed another 1st place finish going undefeated for the day, 3-0.
Bober improve his season to 8-1. Also at 120, Kaden Bonner placed 3rd going 3-1 for the day picking up two pins and a major decision along the way. Gauge McBride showed complete domination in this tournament taking home the gold and going 4-0 on the day improving his record to 10-1. Tyler Ritchie placed 2nd going 3-1 for day. Koebby Bonner placed 3rd at 132 going 5-1 for day. Daniel Crocker placed 2nd at 132 going 3-1 for day extending his record to 8-3 on the year. Matt Oliphant continues his undefeated run going 4-0 for the day and claiming the gold. Oliphant is now 10-0 on the year. At 152, this week’s JV wrestler of the week is Jerimiah Hagemann. Hagemann went undefeated and won his bracket extending his record to 11-0 for the year. Hagemann picked up pin in round 1 and dominated the rest picking up major decisions in the rest. Freshman Bronson Amend is also this week’s reserve wrestler of the week wrestling up at 160 this week. Amend placed 1st going undefeated and dominating his opponents picking up 3 pins and decision along the way. Also at 160, Charles Polen placed 2nd going 2-1 for the day picking up 2 pins along the way. Tyler Tracy claimed the gold at 170 going 4-0 for the day. Tracy extends his record to 10-1 for the year. Adrian Martin wrestled a great tournament going 3-1 for the day. Martin sustained a head injury in the championship match which resulted in an injury default giving him the second place finish for the day. Isiaiah Stalbird had a great showing for the day placing 3rd and going 4-1 for the day. Finishing out the day for the Bearcats was 220 Edwin Manzano placing 3rd for the day. Manzano went 3-1 for the day picking up all of his wins by the way of falls.

The JV Bearcats have a busy schedule this upcoming week starting with wrestling on Tuesday. The Bearcats will be wrestling at Axtell with JV and JV 2. Also on Tuesday Freshman and a few Sophomores will be competing at Grand Island. On Friday, all Freshman, Reserve and JV that are not on JV 1 will be wrestling at Ravenna.
