JV Grapplers place 6th at Crusader InvitePosted:
The Kearney junior varsity wrestling team finished in 6th place at the Grand Island Crusader Invitational. This was a varsity tournament hosting 13 teams from central and eastern Nebraska.
Josh Ross placed fourth at 106 pounds. Ross suffered a loss in the quarterfinals and was able to battle back to the consolation finals only to lose to David Jimenez from Shelton / Kenesaw. Jordan Bober also lost in the quarterfinals at 113 pounds but was able to pin his way through the backside of the bracket to claim 3rd place. Ashton Arrants lost 1-0 in the semifinals and dominated his opponents while wrestling back to a third place finish at 120 pounds. Kearney went head to head in the consolation finals at 126 pounds with Bryce Bottorf defeating teammate CJ Sanchez. Brady White reached the championship final at 132 pounds but fell short of victory to Clint Rogers of Smith Center, Kansas. Hudson Snider picked up several wins after a quarterfinal loss to place fourth at 145 pounds. Chase Lundgren picked up two pins on his way to a fourth place finish at heavyweight.
The Bearcat junior varsity wrestling team will be back in action on Monday, February 4th at the Grand Island Northwest invitational. This will be the last competition of the year for the junior varsity team.
