JV Goes 2-2 at Aurora DualsPosted:
The JV Bearcats attended the Aurora Duals this past weekend for the first time. The Bearcats went in ranked at the number four seed in the eight team field including the number one team in class A, Millard South. The Bearcats went 2-2 for the day finishing in 5th place. The JV reserves for the Bearcats also competed in between dual rounds as well with several Bearcats going undefeated for the day.
In the opening round the Bearcats went up against host, the Aurora Huskies. The Huskies proved to be some tough competition for the Bearcats winning the dual 45-30. Key wins to came from Tyson Cepel at 138 picking up the win by fall to start the Bearcats off. Aurora then went on a winning streak until Isaiah Stalbird at 182 changed the tide to get the Bearcats going again. Adrian Martin (195), Dillon Trujillo (285), and Dalen Ritchie (113) also picked up wins for the Bearcats.
Round two proved to be the toughest dual for the day going against the #1 team in the state, Millard South. The Bearcats didn’t back down though, picking up two big wins in Dillon Trujillo (285) pinning Jake Mayfield and Dalen Ritchie (113) defeating Alex Vacha 6-0. The Bearcats would ultimately lost the dual 70-9.
Round 3, the Bearcats went up against Shelton/Kenesaw in which the Bearcats won 61-12. Jeremiah Hagemann (152) started off the dual with a bigtime pin over Remington Wright. Isaiah Stahlbird pickup a 7-4 decision over Daly Haller. Dillon Trujillo (285) picked up another pin for the day over Junior Sauceda. Dalen Ritchie was again picked up win by fall as well as Koeby Bonner (132) and Payton Bottorf (145) also picking up wins by fall.
The final dual of the day for the Bearcats for 5th place came against Central City. The Bearcats took complete control of the dual defeating Central City 72-6.
Match #4 5th Place Match: KearneyJV defeated Central City 72-6. At 195, Adrian Martin proved to have the most exciting match of the dual coming from behind to defeat Noah Carlson on a last second reversal and pin. Koeby Bonner picked up a pin over Eric Rieken. Tyson Cepel picked up a 6-2 decision over Luke Peterson. Payton Bottorf picked up a fast fall over Dyllan Lee at 145. Finishing the dual was Jerimiah Hagemann who battled against Jared Gallion with a final outcome of a 4-1 decision to finish up the day capturing the 5th place finish.
The JV Bearcats as well as the reserves will be back in action at the Boone Central Invitational at Albion.
