JV Bearcats take 1st place and put 12 wrestlers on the podium.Posted:
This last weekend Kearney High JV Gold and JV Blue attended the Pleasanton Kurt Keaschall Invite. In the 21 team field of wrestlers the Kearney JV Gold team placed 1st in the team score at this tournament with a score of 188.5 points while the Kearney Blue finished 9th.
Two wrestlers found themselves taking home the gold on the day. Ben Crocker (113) went undefeated going 5-0 for the day. Crocker lead the team with 28.5 points leading the team to the championship. “Ben is one of those competitors that I love to coach and watch. He is so dominate in all positions and just knows how to put back to back moves together to score on the other wrestler. I appreciate the hard work and effort that Ben puts into every practice and competition. He is a warrior and and we as a coaching staff are extremely fortunate to have athletes like Ben to compete for us.”-Coach Clark
Bronson Amend was the other champion for the day at 182. Bronson went 3-0 on the day and picked up two falls on his way to the championship round.
Other wrestlers that found themselves on the podium were 106 Jackson Lavene (2nd) Haydon Arrants (3rd), 120 Ethan Lawrence(2nd), 126 Cole Schroer (2nd), 132 Ethan Kowalek (3rd), 160 Jackson Bespalec (2nd) Chris Duttenhoffer (3rd), 170 Riley Johnson (3rd), 220 Kason Nicol (3rd), 285 Caden Johnson (3rd).
Kearney JV will be back in action this Thursday in Gothenburg and on Saturday we will be in Franklin.
