JV Bearcats Finish in 3-way Tie for 2nd at Kearney CatholicPosted:
The JV Bearcats placed third in the 12 team field finishing the day going 3-2 with a three-way tie for second between Kearney, St. Paul, and Wilber-Clatonia in which criteria came into effect for placing results.
The Bearcats took on Gibbon in their first round preliminary match winning 69-9. In round two the Bearcats took on Hershey in a tight dual. Going into the final match at 160, the dual score was tied at 36-36. “Breckon really stepped up for us in the final match. We knew it was going to be a tough match but Breckon got it done. He not only got the win, but he stuck the guy. He showed some true grit.”-Coach Clark.
In Gold Pool play the Bearcats went against Arlington. Arlington matched up better than the Bearcats did winning the dual 57-24. The Bearcats showed some sparks though with Tanner Houser (182) coming out and getting pin right off the bat. Ben Crocker(106), Cisco Rivas(126), and Breckon White all picked up big wins during the dual.
Against Wilber-Clatonia the Bearcats picked up some crucial wins in a swing for the better. The Bearcats won the dual 48-30. Tanner Ostermeyer (195), Ben Crocker (106), Tate Kuchera(138), and Brenton Tobaben(145) all picked up wins by the way of a fall.
In the Bearcats final dual, they were face to face with St. Paul. The dual went back and forth with St. Paul coming out on top winning the dual 45-36. Cisco Rivas and Cameron Claussen both sparked the team with big pins to get the Bearcats going in the right direction. The Bearcats just couldn’t quite get the swing match wins and finished the day in third.
The Bearcats will be back in action this coming Friday at the rescheduled Kearney High Invite starting at 3 p.m.
