Junior Varsity 4th at Boone Central, 40 Plus get to CompetePosted:
The JV Bearcats competed at the Boone Central Invite this Saturday with 15 teams competing. The Bearcats finished 4th overall and placing 13 of 14 wrestlers with two wrestlers in the finals.
The JV teams split between the varsity side and the JV side with the normal varsity team competing at the Rocky Welton invitation in Garden City Kansas. The JV Bearcats rose to the challenge starting with 106 in which Christian Dakan finished the day in 3rd. At 113 Matt Ross, competed extremely well picking up a tech fall, and a decision along the way before facing David City’s Trent Daro (13-3) in the finals. Ross finished in second place for the day. Hal Moomey at 126 finished the day in 6th place going 3-2 for the day. At 132 Johnnie McCann wrestled a tough comeback match to defeat Neligh/Oakdale’s Marquis Granville in the fifth place match. Parker James at 138 placed 3rd defeating Aquinas Catholic’s Kyle Petree in the way of a fall. Bryce Bottorf placed 5th for the day going 2-2. Dalton Hellman placed 8th at 152, while Reece Nicol placed third at 160 going 4-1 for the day with all of his wins coming by the way of a pin. Steven Berumen finished 5th at 170 as well as Tim Dubry at 182. At 195, Lee Herrington placed 5th for the day going 2-2. At 220 Izzy Bautista finished the day in 7th place. The final competitor for the day was at 285, with Dillon Trujillo at the reigns. Trujillo wrestled the day extremely well to find himself in the finals against Zaine Gallegos of Baynard in which was Trujillo’s only loss for the day to claim second place.
On the JV side of the tournament, the Bearcats competed in force having nearly two competitors in each and every weight class. The Bearcats wrestled extremely well, including 11 champions out of 14 weight brackets. Champions included at 106, Carter Fuestman and Brett Sanchez, 120 Teontae Wilson, 126 Caleb Crittenden and Austin Seigal, 132 Hunter Willis, 138 Detrick Wilkerson, 145 Joe Griffith, 152 Cody Renken, 195 Adrian Avila, and at 285 Sean Jackson.
The JV Bearcats will be back in action on Thursday, starting with the Freshman GNAC conference tournament at home with all Freshman wrestling at 5 p.m. Additionally on Thursday, the JV team will be competing in a Dual with Shelton Kenesaw at Shelton at 6 p.m.
