The Kearney High wrestling team defeated North Platte for the third time this season. This was the Bearcat’s last home dual. The night was highlighted by honoring of the senior wrestlers and their parents.

The wrestling action began at 182 pounds with Lee Langenburg moving up a weight class to battle for three periods with his North Platte opponent. Langenburg provided great excitement as he battled from behind to take the lead late in the third period. Langenburg’s opponent escaped with seconds left on the clock to give North Platte the first win of the dual. Trey Schlender (195lbs) quickly put the Bearcat’s on the board with a first period fall. Quinton Ross (220lbs) followed with a major decision over his opponent and Taylor Towery (HWT) put an exclamation point on the upper weight wrestling with a pin in the first period. Gabe Crocker (106lbs) and Isaac Stansbury (113lbs) kept the pinning streak going by recording falls at their respective weight classes. North Platte claimed victory at the 120 pound weight class with Aaron Houser scoring a last second takedown to defeat Kearney’s Scott Bauer 4-3. Hunter Bamford (126lbs) and Austin Marshall (138lbs) both continued their dominance on the season by recording pins against their opponents. Paul Kraye was able to battle from a first period deficit to defeat Kearney’s Mason Merritt at 138lbs. Derek Beruman (145lbs) then picked up a major decision followed by another pin from Kearney’s Kalen Mazankowski (152lbs). The Bearcat’s dropped the last two matches at 160 and 170 pounds. The final score of the dual was 49 – 18 for another convincing victory by the Bearcat wrestlers.
