Bearcats Wrap Up Regular Season at GNAC


Kearney High School finished as the GNAC conference runner up. The Bearcats finished with 210 points behind champion Columbus who had 238. All 14 wrestlers for Kearney placed in the top 4 in this tournament.

Freshman Phillip Moomey and Nick James along with Senior Ashton Arrants were all conference champions at the individual weight classes . Phillip Moomey pinned Jayson Scott from North Platte to win the 113 pound weight class. Nick James defeated Colby Pedroza from Hastings in the 132 pound championship final. Ashton Arrants defeated David Mata from North Platte 7-1 to claim the 138 pound title.

Trevor Bigelow (152lbs) and Trey Grube (160lbs) both finished as conference runner up. Salvidor Aguirre (106lbs), Tyler Tracy (170lbs), Leo Palomo (182lbs), Andy Mason (195lbs), and Lee Herrington (HWT) finished in third place. Jordan Bober (120lbs), Gabe Crocker (126lbs), Parker James (145lbs), and Sean Jackson (220lbs) all finished in fourth place.

Kearney High School moves on next Saturday to the A1 district hosted at Millard South. The Bearcats are currently ranked 2nd in the state behind Millard South. Wrestling action starts at 10am.
