Bearcats Win GNAC In Front Of Home CrowdPosted:
Riding the momentum of three individual championships, the Kearney High Wrestling team captured a Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference (GNAC) Saturday afternoon. Phillip Moomey (120lbs), Nick James (132lbs), and Lee Herrington (HWT) were individual champions helping the Bearcats accumulate 159 points ahead of runner up Scottsbluff at 120.
Brayden Smith (106lbs), Gauge McBride (126lbs), Teontae Wilson (145lbs.) and Izzy Bautista (220lbs) finished runner up in their respective weight classes. In fourth round action, Bautista picked up a pin against the third ranked wrestler in class A.
Kearney High had five wrestlers finish in 3rd place. Rylie Steele (113lbs), Tyson Cepel (138lbs), Trey Grube (160lbs), Tyler Tracy (182lbs), and Sean Jackson (220lbs). Reece Nicol (160lbs) and Jud Kuchera (152lbs) finished in 4th place.

The #2 ranked Bearcats are now on to post season wrestling. They host districts next Saturday starting at 930am.
