Bearcats Place Two at Fall BrawlPosted:
This past Saturday the Bearcats picked up right where they left off this summer competing at the Blue Chip Fall Brawl in Kansas City. Eight wrestlers took to the mats at a loaded pre-season tournament that featured brackets that had much as twenty State Medalists in one bracket.
Sophomore Phillip Moomey became the first Bearcat to ever win this elite tournament! He went 5-0 on his way to his championship, picking up four bonus point victories. Including three falls, and one 13-4 major decision. His 120 pound bracket featured 8 State Medalist facing three of them himself. In an interview with Trackwrestling Phillip said
“I learned I got a lot better from last year, that’s for sure,” said Moomey, a Cadet Greco-Roman All-American who admittedly relied too much on his upper-body prowess in past years. “I’m a lot more solid. I don’t do as many dumb things. No stupid throws or any of that.”
Also placing at Fall Brawl was 145 pound Junior Teontae Wilson. Teontae went 6-2 on his way to a 5th place finish. He picked up three falls including a headlock that caught the attention of National Media Trackwrestling!
