Bearcat Wrestlers Compete in 3 Different States Over The Weekend


Twenty Nine wrestlers were on the mats for the Bearcats this past weekend. Twenty Seven wrestlers were at the Gering Team Camp where they got 7 duals in. Phillip Moomey was in Akron, OH wrestling at UWW Cadet Nationals and Lee Herrington was in Dodge City, KS at USA Southern Plains Regionals.

In Gering, there were 5 wrestlers that finished the day undefeated. Ian Smith went 7-0 with 5 pins, 1 Major & 1 Decision. He earned this weeks wrestler of the week honor for the Gering Trip. Also going undefeated was Nick James (6-0), Archer Heelan (5-0), Jeremiah Hageman (3-0) & Jud Kuchera (3-0). Full results can be found here.

Lee Herrington went to Southern Plains Freestyle & Greco Regionals where he went 7-0 between the two styles. In Greco he went 3-0 with 2 tech falls on his way to the Championship and in Freestyle he went 4-0 with 4 tech fallson his way to his 2nd Championship of the weekend! Full results can be found here.

Phillip Moomey went to Cadet Nationals which is the World Team Trails for his age group. He earned his 2nd All-American finish of his High School career placing 4th in Greco. He also went 1-2 in Freestyle. Full results can be found

The Bearcats will be back on the mats next week as they head to Dubuque, IA for the Iron Sharpens Iron Team Camp.
