Bearcats Finish Runner-Up in 30 team Dual Tournament

The grapplers from Kearney High School reached the finals at the Flatwater Fracas for the third year in a row. The Bearcats dominated their pool duals with wins over Lincoln Southeast 63-9, Doniphan Trumbull 70-12, Mead, Colorado 71-6, and Papillion LaVista South 64-6. In the championship pool Kearney defeated Bennington 53-10 and Papillion LaVista 60-5 before falling short in the championship dual to Gretna 39-33.

Bearcats Compete With The Midwest’s Best

The Council Bluffs Classic has proven to be one of the toughest tournaments in the Midwest. This year was no exception as the this tournament featured nationally ranked teams as well as top ranked teams from Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas, and Nebraska.

JV Wins Lincoln Northeast Invite by 100 points

The JV Bearcats ran away with the team championship at the first annual Lincoln Northeast JV meet Saturday. The Bearcats produced 6 champions and put up an impressive first place team finish, scoring 252 points over second place Lincoln East scoring 152 points. The Bearcats showed complete domination in all aspects on their run to the championship. The tournament hosted 14 teams and 265 wrestlers competing.

Kearney Wins Battle of Top Ranked Teams

Kearney High School and Omaha Skutt Catholic both entered this dual ranked second in their respective classifications. The Bearcats were able to use some big wins as well as bonus points to defeat the Skyhawks of Omaha Skutt in their home gymnasium.

Bearcats Dominate Home Invitational

Kearney High School opened their 2016-2017 wrestling season in a dominating fashion. The Bearcats had 8 individual champions and placed 13 of 14 weight classes in the top 3. This event featured four of the top seven teams in class A as well as the Hastings High School who is currently ranked 7th in class B.

JV Kicks Off The Season At Home

The Kearney High JV Bearcats opened up the season this past Saturday at their own Invite in the brand new school. The atmosphere was electric and well attended. The Bearcats finished the day with 14 champions between the beginner and advanced brackets. The Bearcats also finished the day with 16 runner-ups between the two divisions. It was an impressive showing to the opening of the season.
