Bearcats Place 2nd at Flatwater Fracas

For the second year in a row the Bearcat wrestling team finished runner up at the Flatwater Fracas. This year’s tournament featured 28 teams from 3 different states. Kearney had 6 pool play duals followed by 2 championship pool match ups.

JV Caps Of Busy Week at Kearney Catholic Duals

Axtell Invite

The JV Bearcats started off a busy week of wrestling on Tuesday by taking first and second and the Axtell invite. The JV gold took home the first place plaque with a total of 249 points and the JV blue scoring just enough points 114, to edge out Minden with 111.

Bearcats Place 3rd At Council Bluffs Classic

Kearney finished 3rd out of 35 teams at the Council Bluffs Classic. This is a two day tournament featuring teams from 5 different states. The Bearcats put 13 of 14 wrestlers into the Gold Bracket to accumulate 410.5 points. Apple Valley, Minnesota finished in first place with 703 points and Fort Dodge, Iowa was runner up with 544 points.

Both JV Teams Go 4-0 At Kearney JV Duals

The JV Bearcats went undefeated this weekend going 8-0 between both JV teams. The duals hosted Lexington, Hastings, North Platte, and Lincoln North Star.

The Kearney JV 1 team had an outstanding showing only losing one match between the four duals for the day and putting up some huge scores for the duals. 83-0 against Lexington, 76-6 against Lincoln Northstar, 80-0 against North Platte, and 81-0 against Hastings.

Bearcats Win Home Invitational

Kearney High School claimed the top spot at their home invitational which featured 4 of the top 5 class A rated teams. The Bearcats finished in first place with 218 points with Lincoln Southwest and Columbus placing 2nd and 3rd place with 195 and 181 points. Kearney finished with 3 individual champions, 2 runner ups, and 6 third place finishers.

JV Kicks Off The Season At The Kearney High Invite

Our first meet is officially in the books with our JV’s competing at home this past Saturday in the Kearney High Invite. Our numbers are huge and our competitive level is extremely high. We had 46 wrestlers competing in two divisions, beginner and advanced with a total of seven teams on the JV side of the tournament. For several of our freshman and a few sophomores, this is the first time they have wrestled and overall as a team, the Kearney JV did extremely well.
