Hunter Bamford rewrote the record books for Kearney High wrestling this weekend . During the semifinal match at the Boone Central Invite, Hunter defeated Dion Niemac from O’Neil to earn his 150th career win and the top spot on the all time career wins list for Kearney High School.
The Bearcat junior varsity and varsity wrestling teams competed side by side at the Boone Central Invitational this past weekend. The tournament featured 12 teams from central and eastern Nebraska.
The Kearney High Wrestling Team had over 40 wrestlers compete in the varsity and junior varsity divisions at the John Higgins Lexington invitational this past weekend.
The Kearney High wrestling team defeated North Platte for the third time this season. This was the Bearcat’s last home dual. The night was highlighted by honoring of the senior wrestlers and their parents.
The Kearney High junior varsity team won the Sumner – Eddyville – Miller invitational on Friday, January 11th. The Bearcats had two teams wrestling and placed two wrestlers in many weight classes.
Kearney High wrestling continued dual meet action at the East / West Challenge in Lexington, NE on Friday, January 11th. The Bearcats wrestled four teams from the West pool (North Platte, Gering, Gothenburg, and Chadron). After winning all of these match ups KHS earned a spot in the East dual championship against Omaha Skutt Catholic.
The KHS wrestlers picked up a dual win on the road against Columbus on January 10th by a score of 66 to 12. The Junior varsity was also in action and the bearcat wrestlers were able to dominate their competition by winning 12 out of 14 weight classes.
The Kearney High wrestling team dominated their competition at the Ogallala invite this past Saturday. The Bearcats finished the tournament with a 5 and 0 dual record and the tournament championship. The team combined for a impressive 322 points against their opponents while only giving up 51 to the opposition.
